When we began to conceptualise our brand, we had always envisaged designing a space that represented itself as part showroom and part gallery. We wanted to create a platform for our loved designers to showcase their amazing work and talents. Luckily for us we were able to realise this vision with the launch of our first design exhibition titled “Myths and Other Objects”. The exhibition featured the sculptural work of Blakebrough+King, husband and wife duo, Sarah King and Ben Blakebrough.

This celebration of true craftsmanship was on display in our Cremorne showroom for one month from 27 February. The exhibition featured a range of furniture, tableware and objects illustrating the duo’s meticulous attention to detail, clean aesthetic and wonderful sense of imagination that has been their trademark during their decade of collaboration.

Another highlight of the exhibition was the The Mirrors Works, which included a set of 12 illustrations created for a small book about Blakebrough+King’s travels in Sicily with the family. Each mirror is a visual interpretation of a God or mythical character, such as Zeus and Hermes, with their story told through symbols. On opening night we held a party and our guests included designers and clients and those who were passionate about the celebration of beautiful objects designed by local creatives. Absolut Vodka joined us for the night, offering our guests a martini or two as they circulated our showroom to admire our selection of works, including the exceptional designs of Blakebrough+King. If you didn’t get a chance to attend the exhibition, you can now view Blakebrough+King’s collection of works for sale on our website, here.
